Leon Hawea - Ngai Te Whatuiapiti

Leon's background lies in education first as a Secondary School Teacher then as a lecturer at Wellington Polytechnic which later became Massey University Wellington. He then worked with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority developing unit standards, qualifications, resources and reviewing them.

Leon returned to Hawkes Bay to take up the role as the Iwi Liaison Officer to the Hastings District Council. Through the Maori Services Network of Heretaunga, he was asked to represent this group on Community Taskforce.
