Henderson Creek Project Twin Streams -
Saturday 15th October
12.00pm-3.00pm
Meet at Tui Glen Reserve jetty
Project Twin Streams Henderson Creek, in collaboration with the Te Atatu
Endeavour Sea Scouts and members of the local community, is holding a
clean-up of Henderson Creek.
We'll be collecting rubbish from the creek and along the streambank as part
of Keep Waitakere Beautiful Trust's Operation Spring Clean, which runs from
1 September - 17 October 2011. OSC is an annual event that aims to increase
awareness about waste in the environment. Litter is ugly, affects bird and
fish habitats, and negatively impacts recreational use of our waterways and
harbours.
We hope you'll join in the spring cleaning and celebrate with afternoon tea
in Tui Glen!
There are many ways to join in:
. Bring your kayak or canoe and launch alongside the Te Atatu Endeavor Sea
Scouts at 12.30pm.
. Unload litter from the boats and collect rubbish from streambanks.
. Learn more about Henderson Creek and the stream ecosystem.
. Help with a waste audit and sorting.
. Offer to be a volunteer co-ordinator, we have 5 volunteer roles!
. Clean up your neighbourhood and bring your collected litter to the Tui
Glen waste audit and sorting.
Please RSVP so we can cater for a delicious afternoon tea!
